Rory Austin and Andrew Marlin first met at the iconic Cowboys and Angels salon in San Francisco, where they shared a deep respect for craft, creativity, and the culture of great hair. Andrew later moved to Los Angeles to open his own salon, Heretic, while Rory continued building her career in San Francisco.
Years later, they reconnected in Hollywood, and something just clicked.
Now, they’ve opened Green Door Salon on Fountain—just on the edge of Silverlake. A space built on experience, collaboration, and a true love for the work.

Rory Austin
Rory Austin kicked off her hairstyling career in San Francisco at the legendary Cowboys and Angels, where she fell in love with the craft and mastered both razor-cutting and precision techniques. Her talent was recognized early on when she was named one of Allure Magazine’s Best Stylists in San Francisco. Rory continued to sharpen her skills with advanced training from Bumble and bumble, Oribe, and Vidal Sassoon, blending technical mastery with a love for punk, 70s-inspired, and effortlessly cool styles. Now based in Los Angeles, she’s the co-founder of Green Door Salon in Silverlake—a laid-back, creative space where great hair meets real individuality.

Andrew Marlin
Based in Silverlake, Los Angeles, Andrew Marlin is a hairstylist known for his bold, artistic approach and commitment to self-expression. Specializing in avant-garde styles, extensions, dreadlocks, and vivid color, Andrew’s work challenges convention and celebrates individuality.
He founded the salon Heretic to break beauty norms and build a creative community. Today, you’ll find him shaping alternative beauty at Green Door Salon, on film sets, and in editorial shoots across L.A. and beyond.
